Summer in the City
This look combines so many elements that I love into one great outfit.
First, a little touch of trend without screaming SS17, this Phillip Lim off-the-shoulder sweater with a slight ruffle at the cuff (easy to manage compared to others from the season) is a perfect trans-seasonal piece to carry you through right to winter with its great palette and fabric weight. As the off-the-shoulder trend will continue to be big through SS18, this sweater is a good fashion trend piece to spend a little cash on so that it doesn't show its wear prematurely. Mix with culottes, flair jeans and pencil skirts for a big variety of looks!
The shoes instantly bring the look into summer with the optical white and push the look up to the next styling level by playing with the ankle shape, cut outs and heel shape. Shoes are one of the most impactful ways to bring your outfit into a trend while shoes are totally okay to be used repeatedly in as many looks as possible so another great place to invest your money. The white shoe trend is also not going anywhere and this pair works well with dresses, trousers and skirts as the ankle strap creates length and slims the leg. Who doesn't want that!
The mustard handbag is a big colour for the season but also one of those fantastic, non-colour colours, meaning it can mix in well with almost any colour combo you create. Fabulous with blacks and greys, complimentary with beige and browns, pops white and contrasts fantastically with all shades of blue and equal opportunity with purple, green and blush pink. A total winner in my mind!
The sunglasses again bring a little summer trend in, which I think is a fantastic way to maximize your trend spend. My sunglasses only last me about two years before becoming totally destroyed, which is about as long as you can handle all your instagram summer pics to feature your one and only sunnies. Buy something cool and bold and wear all the time. Price/wear they will be a fantastic investment!
