What to Wear: HOT Girl in the City, White Trousers 4 Ways
Do you wake up in the morning, thrilled by the fantastic summer weather, excited to get dressed in a flirty dress or playsuit only to remember that you are heading into the office and 'business appropriate' is your outfit directive?
I faced this conundrum earlier this week when preparing for an important meeting where I needed to shelf my freelance, aka wear whatever I want, mentality and get office ready. I was feeling a little deflated BUT then I remembered my white trousers and started to dream up all sorts of outfits that feel perfectly summery yet totally office appropriate. To stave you similar frustration, here are four looks I dreamt up for summer office dressing!
First, let's start with a pair of killer trousers. I love white trousers in the summer and have invested heavily into different options as they are my go to! Start with one good and super flattering pair.
These here by La Ligne (an exciting new label) are a great option. I love the subtle detail on the waist line, the cotton-blend easy to care for material and the tailored waist with perfect flair leg.
Note - Invest in having your garments perfectly tailored to your wardrobe from good to great! See where these trousers stop. This point is a super flattering spot, great for heels and flats.
The BIG 4
1. My first look is exactly as above, a contemporary take on the French Sailor.
I wear my Saint James L'Atelier fisherman top (the original, founded in 1889) and sandals from ATP, but the overall is exactly the same.
2. My second look, I would do white on white. Super chic and bright. Choose a
a) Silk / Crepe de chine blouse
b) Crisp oversized shirt or
c) Sleeveless blouse with a beautiful collar detail.
3. If I am feeling more feminine, I often crave a beautiful blush or champagne coloured top in a luxurious material. The light colour makes your skin glow and you feel radiant.
This look is great for a day when you are feeling a little lack lustre. By the time you hit the corner your mood will have changed, promise!
4. If I'm feeling French girl cool, a la Caroline de Maigret, then I will go for a mens oversized striped shirt (preferably one of my husband's) and a loafer, flat sandal or heel. A great look for a casual office day.
So pull on those trousers, slip on a fantastic top, pair with a great shoes and accessorize with your best timeless jewellery for a fantastic and easy summer office look!
